Leala

Finally! After a bit of an art dry spell, I have finished a piece for the New Year! OK, so I actually started on her before the New Year, but she wasn’t anywhere near finished then. So it’s been fun to bring her to completion. What I’ve really enjoyed is how she’s evolved.

Final Art for 2018!

As 2018 winds to a close, I have finished my final piece.  The very talented Micheline Ryckman held an art contest centering around her original characters from her book, Charting Stars.  I have so enjoyed seeing Micheline’s work over the last several months that I’ve been following her and couldn’t think of a nicer way…

Kienne

In 2011, I became acquainted with a really neat woman I had interacted with on DeviantArt years before that. We had “watched” each other’s artwork on DA and would comment and stuff. Anyhow, in 2011, I came across her work again and decided to drop her a line. How could I have foreseen one of…

Radiance

As I’ve been on this painting journey, I have discovered something about myself: I love GOLD!

Autumn Whisper

Last year, my dear friend, Kathryn Whiteford, sent me some goodies which included a pack of ArtSpectrum Colourfix ATCs.  I had never used them before, but tried them out and really loved working on them!  They have kind of a grainy surface and while I don’t know that they’re the easiest to paint on, I really…

Inktober 2018

I am participating in Inktober again this year.  Last year, I only got about 2 weeks in and then moved on to other projects. EDIT: Only 10 days left and I’ve decided to be done this year.  I feel good about what I did, even if I didn’t complete the whole month.  Inktober is so…

Let Down Your Hair

I’m in a few different art groups on Facebook and in one of them, we have periodic challenges.  A week or so back, we had a “fairytale” challenge.  It’s pretty open – you can interpret that how you like and create something in any medium.  For me, I decided to do a quick digital sketch…

Matrona

I love it when you go to the library, pick up a random book that looks pretty interesting, but that you really don’t know what to expect, and then what unfolds is something so magical and wonderful.  Where you get so sucked into the story and you just love every twist and turn of it. …

Blue

So, as is obvious here, I’ve not been doing as much art lately!  For the most part, I kind of took off in the summer and didn’t do much of anything beyond little doodles here and there.  And then recently, I’ve been getting more into digital illustration.  But still, I am enrolled in a few…

Tella

Have you ever read something and thought, “I should draw that!”?  I have.  For years and years, I’ve thought that very thing as I’ve bounced from book to book.  Well this time, I finally did!  I couldn’t resist.

The Lilly

The modest Rose puts forth a thorn The humble Sheep a threat’ning horn While the Lilly white shall in Love delight Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright. -William Blake, 1794

Happy Mother’s Day! (Soon)

Today is Mother’s Day and I thought I’d share the piece I’ve been working on the past week or so. “Soon”
